I have not seen a skunk in ages! Last year I saw one by work, but I think skunks mostly come out in the morning. For now it has been nice to wake up a bit later and really take the time to wake up, get ready, etc.. I remember being in Toronto and the skunks were everywhere in the morning! I would see one here - one there. In a way I am grateful that my “wild” adventures have dwindled. But here’s to hoping I see skunks again! They are too cute.

"Skunks"

I’ve had my share of skunk encounters! The funny thing about skunks is that they look cute. Up close and personal, we can see their gait for what it is: stumbly. I wonder if it is because they have a lot of hair. One thing that is certain is the multifaceted quality of skunks.
Skunks are wild and they smell funky at times. When they are in distress, they emit an odour that is very unpleasant. It is pungent and quite difficult to deal with. I’ve had my eyes water owing to this smell, as well as difficulty breathing. I do like how skunks raise their tail to signal that they are ready to attack.
I will say that encountering skunks by Lake Ontario was phenomenal and lovely. I kept my distance, since I did not want to get sprayed. At a distance, they look like lonesome creatures. Skunks are unlike squirrels in that you don’t see them in groups by trees or in the wild.
I like seeing skunks in cities even if they usually scurry across the street and under cars. Some times of day are more quiet than others, and activity may be more bustling in specific areas as well. By the lake, early in the morning, it’s usually serene and peaceful for skunks to dig up grubs and live fully. I discovered this side of skunks not long ago, which embodies how beautiful skunk encounters can be.
